SCOTT E. HITCH is a Partner with Balch & Bingham in the Environmental and Natural Resources Section in Atlanta. He focuses on environmental and land use issues in connection with regulatory, transactional, client counseling and dispute/litigation matters, including air quality; greenhouse gas emissions and climate change; sustainable and alternative energy sources (including biofuels, landfill gas, and waste-to-energy); nanotechnology; sustainable building design and construction; brownfields redevelopment and environmental remediation; water quality and resource allocation; regulation of impacts to wetlands and storm water; solid, hazardous and electronics waste issues; and land conservation.Mr. Hitch is actively involved in professional and community organizations, serving on the Board of the Georgia Environmental Policy Institute; as the Chair of Environmental Studies for High Meadows School; Chair of the Board of Directors of Premier Academy, Inc.; Vice Chair of the International Board of Directors of the Center for Mediation, Peace, and the Resolution of Conflict (CEMPROC); and on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Lawyer’s Chapter of the American Constitution Society. He also holds memberships with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the National Biodiesel Board, the Urban Land Institute and the Atlanta Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.
