After 22 years of practice at prestigious, international law firms White & Case LLP and Howrey LLP in Washington, D.C., Gregg Hand decided to combine his expertise and experience with a client-friendly approach to legal counseling, litigation, client service and fees, and established Hand Law Offices LLC. Gregg focuses his practice on antitrust, commercial, competition and trade regulation litigation and counseling. In addition, he helps individuals with estate planning and family law issues.
Litigation
Gregg has been involved in complex antitrust and commercial litigation, trials and appellate litigation in federal and state courts for clients across a wide variety of industries.
Counseling
Gregg has advised on marketing, distribution and pricing practices for many prominent suppliers, distributors and retailers of consumer products, including VIZ Media, US Foodservice and Giant Foods. He has represented Bimbo Bakeries USA in Robinson-Patman Act litigation in federal court.
Investigations
Gregg has particular experience with civil and criminal investigations of business practices by federal and state antitrust and consumer protection enforcement authorities, private and government antitrust litigation, private commercial and business litigation, trade associations and general antitrust counseling.
Mergers and Acquisitions
Gregg has advised many companies on the antitrust aspects of mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, and has experience in the Hart-Scott-Rodino antitrust pre-acquisition reporting requirements. He has secured antitrust clearance from the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Trade Commission for transactions in a variety of industries, including defense, commercial aircraft, consumer brand products, steel manufacturing, paper manufacturing, radio broadcasting, educational publishing, retail groceries, restaurants and chemicals.
Consumer Protection
Gregg also has experience in consumer protection matters, including representation of H.J. Heinz Company and its Weight Watchers subsidiary in a Federal Trade Commission investigation and subsequent administrative and federal court litigation involving marketing and advertising practices in the weight loss industry, state investigations into coupon practices and counseling clients with respect to "Made in the U.S.A." and environmental “green” labeling claims.
Education
Gregg graduated from Boston University School of Law in 1987, cum laude, and was editor-in-chief of the American Journal of Law and Medicine (1986-87) and student commencement speaker of his graduating class. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1984.
