Lucas A. Ferrara, a named partner of Finkelstein Newman Ferrara LLP, has practiced in the landlord-tenant arena, advocating clients' interests in federal, state, and local forums, for almost three decades. He has principally represented the firm's corporate clients in a variety of real-estate disputes, most notably participating in a 28 day trial which culminated in a multi-million dollar victory.

In 2002, Mr. Ferrara was appointed an Adjunct Professor of Law at New York Law School. Previously he served as Adjunct Associate Professor of Real Estate at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies, where he instructed various real estate courses. In 1996, he was the recipient of the University's prestigious "Teachers' Excellence Award."

Mr. Ferrara's writing credits include numerous essays and articles which have appeared in a variety of publications including New York Newsday, the New York Law Journal, and the New York State Bar Journal. He is the named co-author of the West treatise Landlord and Tenant Practice in New York, and has contributed a chapter to West's New York State Administrative Procedure and Practice.

Mr. Ferrara's pro bono activities have included his service as a Special Master in the New York County Supreme Court and as an Arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau and the Civil Court of the City of New York. He currently serves as an arbitrator with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA).

Prior to his legal pursuits, Mr. Ferrara was affiliated with the Mayor's Voluntary Action Center of the City of New York, where his efforts to promote community service by way of volunteerism were acknowledged by mayoral award certificates issued by the Honorable Abraham D. Beame and the Honorable Edward I. Koch.

An active member of various local and national bar associations, Mr. Ferrara recently served on the Board of Directors of the New York County Lawyers' Association, served as past Chair of NYCLA's Communications Committee, past Co-Chair of NYCLA's CLE Institute Advisory Board, and, was a member of the organization's Finance Committee. He also served as a delegate to the New York State Bar Association.
