Kate’s clients are mostly pedestrians, cyclists, and auto drivers who were injured by other drivers. Before changing her focus to help individuals, Kate prosecuted criminal cases as a deputy district attorney in Multnomah and Hood River counties. She has tried well over 40 jury trials, as well as many bench trials and arbitrations.

Kate is an alum of the night program at Northwestern School of Law (now Lewis & Clark Law School). During the day, she worked with traffic engineers and transportation planners at Kittelson & Associates, Inc., then clerked for a Workers Compensation plaintiff attorney, and finally began trying cases as a Certified Law Student at the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office. Once she had her license, she moved to Hood River to prosecute criminal cases there.

Kate Stebbins, Oregon Attorney

Musher Kate Stinson of Portland and her dogs head out on their advanced skijor race during the 20th running of the Chemult Sled Dog Races at Walt Haring Sno-Park in Chemult on Saturday.

Kate was born and grew up in the south coast town of North Bend, OR where her father, Mike Stebbins, continues to practice law and her mother, Mary Lou, teaches. She is the oldest of six children. Kate’s father first sparked her interest in becoming an attorney through his passion and belief in his own work. She eventually chose the law as the best tool for changing unjust behaviors and outcomes.

Kate graduated from North Bend High School and Macalester College (St. Paul, MN). A 3-sport varsity athlete and honor student throughout high school, she continued to compete through college while maintaining her academics.  Kate’s interest in service in the community and justice was piqued through her work at Macalester’s community service center. She spent her first year out of college volunteering in Aberdeen, WA through the Jesuit Volunteer Corps.

Kate lives with her husband, two dogs, two cats, and the six chickens in Oregon City. She enjoys the normal stuff: time with family and friends, gardening, fishing, crabbing, cooking, travel, shooting baskets, kicking the ball around  – but she’s really passionate about skijoring. You will find her most cool weekend mornings somewhere on Mount Hood training with her rescued dogs, Roy and Mila, unless she’s  elsewhere racing. She belongs to the Cascade Sled Dog Club and is a regular contributor and volunteer with Project Pooch.

Like superheroes and athletes, individual attorneys have special knowledge and strengths in different areas of the law. As a solo practitioner, Kate enjoys collaborating with other attorneys and putting together the “dream team” to handle the unique combination of issues each case presents.

Kate is a member of the American Association for JusticeOregon State BarOregon Trial Lawyers AssociationClackamas County Bar Association, and Multnomah County Bar Association.
