I am a trilingual writer, attorney and educator who aims to provide ethically nuanced and culturally competent representation and legal education to advance human rights. I have successfully advocated for clients with housing, employment, asylum, crime victim visas, deportation defense, marriage visas, motions to reopen in immigration court, and civil matters.
My work to represent human trafficking survivors has been acclaimed by the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights of the Bay Area and the U.S. Department of Justice. My media advocacy has resulted in articles in the Associated Press, San Jose Mercury News, San Francisco Public Press, New America Media & El Tecolote. In legal skills classes, I have drafted problem sets incorporating issues of forced labor and my signature presentation focuses on the ethics of representing human trafficking survivors through examining redacted actual cases.
I have walked a similar path to many of my clients. I grew up impoverished in an abusive immigrant household in Southern California. My journey as a survivor of abuse informs my advocacy as I have used the law as an ally in my efforts to speed refuge, remedy and healing to my clients.
