Joining
LawLink
Can
anyone join LawLink?
No. Only licensed attorneys are allowed to join LawLink.
How
does LawLink ensure that all members are licensed attorneys?
When an application is submitted, LawLink searches online records and
contacts the applicant offline to ensure that the applicant is a licensed
attorney. This can take up to 72 hours depending on the information
submitted.
Does
LawLink guarantee that all members are licensed attorneys?
No. Despite our screening, it is possible for a non-attorney to fraudulently
impersonate an attorney and join LawLink. Thus, all users are advised
to use caution when dealing with other members.
How
do I join LawLink?
Go to our Join
Page and fill out a simple application. Then select your legal categories.
You must select at least one category and may select up to 6. Then submit
your application. You may be contacted offline to have your identity
authenticated. Once your application is approved, you will receive an
email with a link to your account.
I
have not received the email with the link to my account. Why not?
There are 3 possible reasons:
1. Your application is pending.
2. Your application has been denied.
3. The email is sitting in your spam filter folder.
*Tip:
Once your application has been approved you can always login using your
email address and password.
How
do I login after I join?
Login by entering your email address and password. You can edit your
email address and password at any time, by going to the Edit Basic page.
Inviting
New Colleagues
Why
should I invite new colleagues to join my network?
The only way take advantage of LawLink is to build a network
of trusted attorneys. The larger your network, the more you benefit
from LawLink. *Note: There is simply no
point in joining LawLink if you're not going to build your network.
That's like joining a gym and never going.
How
many colleagues should I invite into my network?
The more colleagues in your network the more you gain from
LawLink. In the offline world, the more attorneys you know and know
you, the greater your sphere of influence.
You
need at least 5 colleagues in your network to experience LawLink's networking
effects. If you have 5 colleagues in your network, and each of your
colleagues has 5 colleagues, and so on, there will be 125 attorneys
in your network. However, the more colleagues you have the more you
gain from LawLink.
Should
I invite any attorney or just the ones I trust?
It is important that you only invite attorneys you know and trust into
your network. Remember your network is 3 levels deep. You need to trust
that your colleagues will also only invite attorneys they know and trust
into their network. This will go a long way to ensure that your entire
network will consist of attorneys you can trust.
How
do I invite new colleagues?
To invite new attorneys, go to the invite page and enter the email addresses
of the attorneys you want to invite. You can enter multiple email addresses
separated by a comma.
To

trusted attorneys will enhance your reputation. It should be your goal
to obtain as many endorsements as possible from your trusted colleagues.
Do
endorsements affect my LawLink rank?
Yes. LawLink ranks attorneys based on the number of endorsements they
have. The more endorsements you have the higher your ranking in all

Ranking
of Search Results
How
does LawLink determine the ranking of search results?
The order or rank of all LawLink search results are determined
by these factors:
1.
Photos: Members with a photo always have priority over members without
a photo.
2.
Colleagues: Amongst members with a photo, whoever has more colleagues
will have priority. Amongst members without a photo, whoever has more
colleagues will have priority. But remember, members with a photo ALWAYS
have priority over members without a photo.
3.
Endorsements: After taking into account photos and colleagues, the next
criteria is endorsements. If the above factors (photos and colleagues)
are equal, then whoever has the most endorsements has priority.
4.
Date of Joining: If the above factors (photos, colleagues and endorsements)
are equal, then whoever joined LawLink first has priority.
Note:
LawLink reserves the right without prior notice to change the current
ranking procedure.
